StreamElements Alerts Of Third-Party Data Breach

StreamElements has announced a data security incident with a former third-party vendor that may affect some personal information of anyone who may have bought merchandise through StreamElements that was then produced by the third-party vendor.

Many content creators, like me, use StreamElements, and other services like them to offer themed merchandise items like coffee mugs, hats, clothing items, etc. StreamElements then contracts with outside third-party vendors to fulfill the orders.

Below is the content of the security notice email I received from StreamElements:

Notice of a Security Incident

Dear Customer,

We are writing to inform you of a recent security incident that may have involved your personal information. At StreamElements, we prioritize the privacy and security of your data, and we deeply regret any inconvenience this may cause.

What Happened

On March 25, 2025, we were made aware that an unauthorized third party gained access to the systems of our print vendor, which may have resulted in unauthorized access to some of your personal information. Upon learning of the incident, we immediately launched an investigation to address the situation.

What Information Was Involved

Our investigation determined that the following personal information may have been accessed: name, email address, mailing address, and phone number.

What We Are Doing

We have taken several steps to address the issue and protect your information. We worked with the third-party vendor to ensure no additional unauthorized activity occurred. Additionally, we have closed all accounts associated with the third-party vendor and asked that all associated data be deleted.

We also conducted a thorough investigation of StreamElements networks and systems, including reviewing employee access and authentication policies and procedures.

What You Can Do

While we do not have any specific reason to believe that you are at risk, please:

  • Be vigilant for any suspicious emails, calls, or messages that may attempt to exploit your information.
  • Avoid clicking on links or downloading attachments from unknown sources.
  • Consider changing your passwords for any accounts that may use similar information.

We sincerely apologize for this incident and any inconvenience it may cause.

Please feel free to reach out to us with any questions or concerns.

Thank you for your understanding and support.

Nothing New

Sadly, this is nothing new in our online world. The main takeaways from StremElement’s email above is in the What You Can Do section:

Be on the lookout for suspicious emails, calls, or text messages. I have already received one email claiming to notify me of details that looked suspicious so I deleted it. I recommend you always be suspicious of emails making scary claims.

Avoid clicking on links or downloading attachments from unknown sources. Whether this applies to emails, text messages, or DMs within Discord, this is good advice.

Consider changing passwords for any accounts using the same email address. I also recommend using a quality password manager; I have used Dashlane for years to manage all my passwords, but there are other good ones out there.

I recommend you avoid using a free one because the hidden cost may be your passwords and other data. This goes for the password manager built into some browsers.

Additionally, to the best of my knowledge, no payment details were leaked as this is handled by other third-party vendors such as PayPal or others.
